Angeles, Tanza mayors test positive for COVID-19

THE mayors of Angeles City in Pampanga and Tanza, Cavite have tested positive for COVID-19.

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. was fetched Wednesday evening by the staff of Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office from his residence after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Lazatin started having the virus symptoms including cough and cold. He was taken to the Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Lazatin’s chief advisor, IC Calaguas, said the mayor will remain in charge of the city government.

“Rest assured na hindi mapapabayaan ang operations ng city government at delivery ng basic services. Let us pray for the mayor’s fast and full recovery,” Calaguas said.

Lazatin was fully vaccinated last June.

Meanwhile, Tanza Mayor Yuri Pacumio revealed on his social media account on Wednesday that he tested positive for COVID-19 despite strict adherence to health protocols.

Pacumio assured that the local government will continue rendering services to the public while is recovering.

The mayor’s close contacts, including his family, have tested negative for COVID-19.

“I ask for everyone’s extra care and fervent prayers to end the health crisis we have been fighting for two years,” said Pacumio.

Meanwhile, Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi is back on track after testing positive last August 16, 2021 and undergoing treatment at the South Imus Specialty Hospital.

Maliksi Immediately checked the vaccination sites and ensure that the vaccination program is fast-tracked.
