AFTER more than 14 years in hiding, a member of the notorious “Ampang-Colangco Robbery Group” involved in a series of bank robbery was finally captured Thursday evening in Muntinlupa City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said Bobby Rabin Baliber, 36, native of Samar, was involved in an armored van robbery in Parañaque City in 2007 where two security guards were slain and three others, including a minor, were seriously injured.

He was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Antonieta Pablo-Medina of Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 276 for the crime of robbery, dated September 18, 2008, another warrant for two counts of robbery with homicide, murder and carnapping that were issued by National Judicial Region Branch 194 and Parañaque City RTC Branch 257.

Macaraeg said Baliber was listed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government as most wanted person and with reward covered by the agency’s Memorandum Circular 2009-29.

He was arrested in the vicinity of Buendia Street, Bgy. Tunasan at around 9 p.m. by personnel of the Muntinlupa Police Warrant and Subpoena Unit under the supervision of P/Col. Melecio Buslig.

“This is a clear message to criminals in hiding, we are determined to go after criminals who have been hiding and eluding arrest for years. We will find you,” Macaraeg said.
