ANAK Mindanao (AMIN) party-list, through its Secretary-General, Isa Tom Del Monte, filed their Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) on Friday before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at the Harbor Garden tent in Pasay City.

AMIN, through its representatives, has actively participated in the passage of the Republic Act (RA) No. 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

The group also continued to advance AMIN’s legislative agenda namely the Islamic Financing Framework (which is now Republic Act No. 11439), the National Wetlands’ Bill, the National Hijab Day bill, the Anti-Hate Speech bill, and the Anti-Racial Discrimination bill and.

AMIN party-list also advocated hard for the Marawi Compensation Bill that is presently being legislated in the Senate.

AMIN is also instrumental in the passing of numerous House bills concerning human rights, peace, health, education, women’s and children’s welfare, and the plight of our Indigenous Peoples.

Del Monte said he wanted AMIN to be instrumental in the pursuit of peace in the Bangsamoro region and the preservation of the Lumad’s cultural heritage.

“Marami pa po tayong gustong maipasang batas sa pamamagitan ng AMIN Partylist. Hangad naming higit na lalo pang maisulong ang pagkakapantay-pantay ng bawat mamamayan through our anti-discrimination campaign na atin ng sinumulan. Nais din namin na higit pang mabigyan ng importansya ang ating mga kapatid na Lumad sa BARMM,” said Del Monte.

For her part as AMIN’s first nominee in the upcoming May 2022 election and current representative in the 18th Congress, Amihilda J. Sangcopan said that representing AMIN is a huge honor and privilege.

“Isa pong malaking karangalan ang mahirang bilang representante ng Anak Mindanao Partylist. Ito ay isang pambihirang pagkakataon kung saan tayo ay nagiging bahagi ng institusyon na bumalangkas ng mga batas para sa higit na ikabubuti ng ating mga kapatid na Moro, Kristyano at Lumad na mula sa Mindanao at maging sa mga Mindanaoan na nasa iba’t-ibang parte ng bansa,” said Sangcopan.

AMIN was established in 1997 and has been elected to the House of Representatives as a partylist member since 2003.

AMIN also espouses the development of social services that aims to ensure that government services will be felt and accessible to all Filipinos regardless of faith and background.
