Altas, Dolphins triumph

UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help Dalta System and Philippine Christian University made it three wins in a row and kept their share of the lead in the 2nd Philippine University Basketball League (PUBL) at the PCU gym in Manila.

The Altas overwhelmed Bataan Peninsula State University, 87-70, while the Dolphins subdued Technological University of the Philippines, 88-82.

The Altas relied on Jielo Razon, Christian Pagaran, Cyrus Nitura and Jaycee Udugan to beat the Stallions from Balanga, Bataan.

Razon, a 5-11 shooting guard, led the way with 18 points

Pagaran added 16 points, Nitura had 12 points and Udugan had 10 points for the Las Pinas based squad of coach Mike Saguiguit and assistant coach Stephen Mopera.

John Carlos Valerio and Isiah De Leon carried the fight for the Stallions with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

BPSU, handled by coach Rondy Rodriguez, sufffered itssecond straight loss after winning over AIMS.

The Biboy Simon-mentored Dolphins leaned on Jaddie Antonio, Edward Veloso, Jhon Lloyd Balvarin, Lionel Failon and Mark Ordonez to bring down the Grayhawks.

Antonio topscored with 17 points followed by Veloso with 15 points, Balvarin with 14 points and Failon and Ordonez with 12 points apiece.

Geramiel Abejuela finished with 22 points for TUP, which dropped to 0-3.

Later, Mapua University defeated Asian Institute of Maritime Studies, 76-54, to improve to 2-1

The Cardinals got 30 points from Toby Agustin, Mark Cuenco and Kobe Dalisay to stay in third place. AA
