CALOOCAN 1st District Representative Dale “Along” Malapitan expressed his sincere gratitude to the city residents for the support he received following his proclamation as the mayor-elect on Tuesday afternoon.

“Ang tagumpay ko ay tagumpay ng bawat Batang Kankaloo. Tapos na ang kampanya, tapos na ang eleksyon, simulan naman natin ang pagtratrabaho para sa ating mga kababayan. Panahon na ngayon ng pagkakaisa kahit anong kulay pulitika mo pa. At bilang ama ng Caloocan, titiyakin ko po na sa pag-angat ng ating lungsod, lahat kasama. Wala tayong iiwanan,” Malapitan said.

The young Malapitan garnered 313,986 votes against 2nd District Rep. Egay Erice’s 241,514 votes from the 99.81% partial and unofficial election returns received by the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Caloocan.

Along’s running mate, incumbent Councilor Karina Teh was proclaimed vice mayor, while his father, outgoing Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, also won a landslide victory against Alou Nubla and Violeta Dela Cruz in the 1st District congressional seat.

Meanwhile, Mitch Cajayon-Uy won the congressional seats for the city’s 2nd district against strong contenders – outgoing vice mayor Maca Asistio, Councilors Obet Samson, and Alex Mangasar.

For the 3rd legislative district, Dean Asistio was proclaimed the winner against former Mayor Recom Echiverri.

As this developed, outgoing 2nd District Cong. Egay Erice conceded to the victory of Rep. Along Malapitan and called on the people to move forward and heal the wounds of the electoral combat. By Edd Reyes
