Allen still wants to prove himself at 45
ALLEN Dizon has collected so many best actor awards from here and abroad and he said then he will try not to anymore accept any films that will require him to bare his body the way he did when he was starting his career doing daring bold flicks.
But in his latest movie, “An Affair to Forget”, he has sizzling love scenes with both Sunshine Cruz as his wife and newcomer Angelica Cervantes as his paramour. Why made him consent to go sexy again?
“Unang-una, maganda ‘yung role ko at maganda yung script,” he says. “Then my wife is Sunshine Cruz na kasama ko lang in another movie na magkapatid kami at napakagaling niya. Also, it’s directed by Louie Ignacio who has directed me before and I really trust him. Tapos, parang comeback ko ito sa Viva Films where I used to be the lead sa Viva Hot Men. I’m just so thankful to Viva kasi may blessing pa ring project uli ako sa kanila. And sabi ko, at my age, 45 na ako, okay pa naman ang katawan ko, e. I work out everyday to keep myself in shape, so sige let’s do it.”
So how far did he go in “An Affair to Forget”? “Yung sa amin ni Sunshine, mag-asawa kami so okay naman siya. Pero ‘yung sa amin ni Angelica, mas daring, mas marami kaming ipinakita. Pero hindi na kasing-wild gaya nung dati kong ginagawa. Kaya ko pa namang makipagsabayan pero ang feeling ko, hayaan na lang natiin sa mga mas bata, like si Karl Aquino who plays our son in the movie.”
He also likes his role in the movie as Oscar, a painter. “Bale second time ko to play an artist kasi sa ‘Abe Nida’ with Katrina Halili, artist din ako pero, sculptor naman, nag-uukit. Dito, ang focus ng story is sa amin ni Sunshine bilang mag-asawa na may problema sa aming relationship. She suspects me of cheating on her pero wala siyang proof so she hires Angelica Cervantes to seduce me para may pruweba siyang unfaithful ako. The story takes a surprising turn dahil dito and the twist in the ending will surely shock you.”
How will he size up the newcomers who are acting with them in the movie? “Pareho silang may potential. Si Angelica, very collaborative even in our bed scenes kasi gusto naming maging makatotohanan ang dating. Si Karl naman, he does a lot of dramatic scenes with us ni Sunshine as his parents and he really wants to learn.”
Being the more seasoned actor among them, what advice did he share with them?
“Basta ang sabi ko, hindi biro-biro ang work of an actor. Kailangan mahaba ang patience mo. And okay lang kahit magsimula sa pagpapa-sexy. Kasi kami ni Sunshine, pinagdaanan din namin yan.
What’s important is maipakita mong mahal mo yung craft ko at gagawin mo ang lahat to improve your craft. Importante ring matuto kang makitungo sa lahat ng tao para tumagal ka sa industriya.
Kapag hindi ka marunong makisama, hindi uusad ang career mo.”
