ANGE Alcantara had a solid game as PLDT won its second straight game at the expense of Farm Fresh, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 yesterday in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena.

The High Speed Hitters rookie playmaker tossed in 12 excellent sets and scored all of her four points from kills.

“Focus lang talaga sa sistema and sa kailangan na gawin and yung disiplina lang din talaga, sa lahat,” said Alcantara.

Savi Davison produced typical numbers for PLDT with 26 points on 23-of-45 attacks and three blocks that went along with six receptions, Mika Reyes added 10 points on 9-of-19 kills while Erika Santos scored nine points.

Majoy Baron also had three blocks and two service aces for an eight-point effort while libero Kath Arado collected 13 digs and seven receptions for the High Speed Hitters.

The victory pushed PLDT to third place with a 6-3 record.

“Happy kami na nag-deliver halos lahat, kahit sinong iniikot. Hopefully madala namin sa next game. Big game talaga ang next game,” said High Speed Hitters coach Rald Ricafort.

PLDT will have a long break before taking on defending champion Creamline on Feb. 15 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Ranged against the Foxies, Alcantara was happy to see her former college teammates from the other side of the court. Alcantara was Louie Romero’s back-up playmaker in Adamson, and was also teammates with Trisha Tubu, Rizza Cruz, Aprylle Tagsip and Lorene Toring.

“Masaya kasi ngayon lang din kami nagkita-kita. Happy din ako na maganda naipakita ko,” said Alcantara. “Excited lang po na makalaban rin sila.”

Tubu, who dropped a career-high 33 points in Farm Fresh’s four-set win against Galeries Tower, struggled with 9-of-28 kills.

Caitlyn Viray chipped in six points while Toring contributed five points for Farm Fresh, which dropped to 4-5.

The Foxies face an uphill battle in its remaining schedule, beginning with a tough clash against Creamline on Feb. 11 at Philsports Arena, followed by a meeting Capital1 on Feb. 18.
