Airports brace for Goring

AIRPORTS operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) have prepared precautionary measures in anticipation of possible damages due to Typhoon “Goring” (international name: “Saoloa”).

Signal No. 3 was raised in Cagayan and Isabela as Goring intensified further, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Airports that may potentially be affected include Tuguegarao Airport, Basco Airport, Itbayat Airport, Cauayan Airport, and Palanan Airport. Additionally, airports in Laoag, Vigan, and Baguio are also gearing up for possible harsh weather conditions.

A progress report by Area 2 Manager Mary Sulyn Sagorsor to CAAP Director General Capt.Manuel Antonio Tamayo bared that all flights at Tuguegarao, Cauayan, Palanan and Basco Airports are cancelled.

Area 1 Manager Ronald Estabillo reported that Laoag Intl Airport flights of CebuPac (Mnl-Lao-Mnj) 5j404 with 94 affected passengers / 5j405 with 69 passengers are cancelled

Baguio Airport flights of PALEx Ceb-Bag-Ceb flight were cancelled. Vigan,Rosales and San Fernando airports are experiencing light to moderate rain.

Malasakit Help Kits and Malasakit Help Desks are available in airports to aid stranded passengers.

CAAP urges the public to stay informed, and are also advised to contact their respective airlines for updates on flight schedules and changes that may arise.
