ALL airports are operating normally and running in good condition, a ranking official of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced Saturday.
The assurance was issued by Eric Apolonio, spokesperson of CAAP, after a powerful 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck in Mindanao, Davao Oriental Dec. 10, 2022.
In an interview, Apolonio said in an initial report to CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo, by Area 11 Manager Rex Obcena, Davao International Airport/ Francisco Bangoy International Airport, suffered no damages, and all personnel is accounted for.
Airport Runway, taxiways and ramp are in good condition, with no sustained structural damage on the airport passenger terminal building, tower, and other CAAP buildings.
Francisco Bangoy International Airport/Davao International Airport, General Santos International Airport, Cotabato Airport, Allah Valley Airpot, and Mati Airport are under Area 11.
Apolo said CAAP Headquarters in Manila also received the report from Mati Airport and reported no damage.
“Wala pong dapat ikabahala ang publiko at lahat ng mga personnel, pilot, crews, pasahero at empleyado, maayos at operational ang mga airport na ito matapos ang malakas na lindol,” said Apolonio.
