AI AI De Las Alas and Shayne Sava have reason to be happy as their first drama series together, “Raising Mamay”, is rating very well after a month’s telecast on GMA Afternoon Prime at 3:25 PM.

Everywhere I go, people tell me they love watching ‘Raising Mamay’ at concerned sila sa mangyayari sa characters that Shayne and I play in the teleserye.”

Shayne says she’ll forever be grateful to GMA for giving her this project. “Dahil sa role as Abigail, mas nagkaroon ako ng recall sa viewers,” she says. “Maski sa internet feedback, very positive ang mga sinasabi nila about our show.”

In the story, Shayne as Abigail is the daughter of Ai Ai as Letty. But she doesn’t know that Ai Ai just adopted her and her real mom is a TV personality, played by Valerie Concepcion. Shayne asks the help of Valerie to find out who shot her mom but what she doesn’t know is that it’s Valerie herself who shot Ai Ai accidentally.

Shayne is showing a lot of maturity in her role as the daughter who takes care of her ailing mother and the audience notices this, commending her for her performance as Abigail.

Because of the show, viewers became more aware that there is such a rare case or condition where an adult can have regressive behavior showing infantile conduct ugaling bata. Elderly and psychiatric patients can also exhibit this behavior. Viewers commend Ai Ai for her acting in her role as Letty. They say she is quite impressive and very convincing.

“But personally, I want to thank our consultant psychiatrist, Dr. Bernadette Manalo of the Philippine Psychiatric Association kasi ang laking tulong niya in guiding me sa tamang behavior ng isang six-year old na siyang ipinapakita ko sa series. Without her, hindi ko ito magagampanan nang maayos. Tinuruan niya ako sa pagsasalita ko, sa pagkilos ko, even the way I dress up, para magmukha akong 6 years old talaga.”

It’s also Doc Bernadette who helped Jennylyn Mercado in her role as a girl with multiple personalities in “Rhodora X” and Ken Chan in “My Special Tatay” where he played a mentally challenged young man and in “Ang Dalawang Ikaw” where he played a man with a split personality.

Shayne says viewers tell her that “Raising Mamay” make them alternately laugh and cry.
