Addressing poverty

MORE and more Filipinos now see a new era, a new dawn for the Filipino people, particularly the poorest of the poor not only in the metropolis but also throughout the country.

They noted, for instance, that President Marcos has not shown any sign of backing off from his commitment to speed up the country’s socio-economic development.

It will be recalled that when the Chief Executive assumed the top political post of the land in 2022, he vowed to address all the problems confronting the people.

These are poverty, unemployment, homelessness, graft and corruption, food security, rising prices of goods and services, peace and order, and the illegal drug menace.

But the public should give President Marcos and his administration all the help they need to be able to succeed in transforming the Philippines into a flourishing nation.

The people ought to support government efforts to stamp out wrongdoings in the bureaucracy, which continues to worry the authorities.

In our view, the people’s support will go a long way in ferreting out the crooks before they succeed in pulling down the President down the gutter.

Speeding up the country’s socio-economic development is a tough target considerring the many challenges confronting the people.

But is not an impossible mission.
