Additional worker benefits important even as unemployment rate drops: Trabaho Partylist
ALTHOUGH the unemployment rate dropped from 4.9% last year to 4.7%, the advancement of additional wages and benefits for workers should not stop, according to Trabaho Partylist.
Insisted by Trabaho Partylist spokesperson Atty. Filemon Ray L. Javier that the focus should still be on increasing wages and offering additional benefits in response to the continuous call of the workers.
According to Trabaho Partylist, it is a good report that the workers somehow have jobs, but development should not stop here, but high quality work, decent wages and additional benefits should be promoted.
Atty also added. Javier that we should still focus on controlling inflation and improving the quality of work, which are among the “most urgent national concerns” of the people.
The Trabaho Partylist also recognized the administration’s success after it added nearly a million jobs in the country compared to last year, particularly in the construction sector.
But, even though unemployment has decreased, there are still 2.38 million Filipinos who are unemployed as of July 2024, and one of the main reasons for this is the entry of new graduates into the labor market who did not immediately find work.
Therefore, Trabaho Partylist also promotes the creation of a centralized database that will contain all job vacancies from different companies in the Philippines.
He said its purpose is to help young college graduates as well as Senior High School graduates only who are looking for a job.
