NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin yesterday ordered a full investigation into alleged abusive acts and irregularities committed by a group of Taguig City policemen.

The Metro Manila police commander said the erring members of the Taguig City Police Station will face administrative charges for grave misconduct and the full force of the law for their misdemeanors.

The involved Taguig City policemen and their immediate supervisor have been relieved from their posts to give way to an impartial investigation. The NCRPO chief also required the concerned policemen whose names were withheld to deposit their firearms in their offices while the probe is ongoing.

“There is no room for abuses in NCRPO and we will ensure that justice will be served. NCRPO assures the public of our strong and uncompromising adherence to the rule of law, transparency and professionalism,” Brig. Gen. Aberin said.

The official declared they will show no mercy on any of the Taguig City policemen who will be proven to have committed human rights abuses and other irregularities as claimed in a viral Facebook post.

“We reiterate: NCRPO does not and will not tolerate any misconduct or abuse of power by any member of the police force. Strict adherence to the police procedures and observance of the rule of law are non-negotiable and any transgression will be dealt with severely,” he added.

A Facebook user posted a copy of the video last Monday with the caption: “Mga pulis sa Block 5, lagi na lang ganyan ginagawa. Nangra-raid nang walang search warrant. Linggong-linggo may raid.”

“Pinagsisira mga CCTV ng mga may-ari ng bahay. Pati mga bata sinaktan. Kaya ngayon, yung batang sinuntok nila may trauma. Ginagamit nila pagkapulis nila [para] mang-holdap. Palagi na lang sila ganyan!,” added the post which has gained more than a million views as of press time.

Brig. Gen. Aberin said a comprehensive but swift investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the case.

He said the probe will identify the police personnel who abused their authority and violated Police Operational Procedures.

It is also aimed at instituting more effective measures to avoid this kind of incident in the future, the official added.

Brig. Gen. Aberin said those who will be found to have abused their authority and have violated their POP will either be dismissed from the service, demoted or suspended, depending on the result of the investigation.
