A MEMBER of the notorious Abu Sayyaf Group with a P5.3 million bounty offered for his capture by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) was arrested by commandos from the Philippine National Police Special Action Force in his hiding place in Zamboanga City early morning Sunday,
officials said.

Isnirul Kirih alias’ Kiri/Kirin’ was tracked down in his hideout in Barangay Sinunuc, Zamboanga City 5 a.m. Sunday by troopers from the PNP-SAF’s 5th and 7th Special Action Battalions, said the director of the elite unit, Major General Edgar Alan O. Okubo.

Okubo said they managed to get the elusive terrorist with the support of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC). The PNP-SAF and the PAOCC jointly launched their Coplan: Kaido’ to neutralize the suspect, said a report from PAOCC Executive Director Gilbert DC Cruz.

Described as a hardcore member of the Abu Sayyaf operating under the late ASG leader Isnilon Hapilon in Sumisip, Basilan and Abu Sayyaf leader Radullan Sahiron in Patikul, Sulu, the suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for seven counts of murder and another warrant for 25 counts of frustrated murder, both issued by Judge Betlee- Ian Barraquias of the Jolo, Sulu Regional Trial Court Branch 3.

Kirih was found to be using different fictitious names to elude authorities as evidenced by the different identification cards recovered from him. Those IDs have the suspect’s picture but with different names such as ‘Sakirin L. Kiram,’ ‘Sakirin Isnain Kiram’ and ‘Sakirin I. Kiram,” Maj. Gen. Okubo said.

In a report to PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the PNP-SAF director said the suspect has also been tagged as the 2nd most wanted person in Bangsamoro Administrative Region prior to his arrest which was made by the PAOCC-SAF with the support of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the BAR Regional Police Office and the Regional Intelligence Unit 9.

The suspect was turned over to the CIDG BASULTA Provincial Field Unit in Sulu for booking and documentation prior to his presentation to court, PNP-CIDG director, Brigadier Gen. Romeo M. Caramat said.
