SENATORIAL candidate and Makati Mayor Abby Binay has visited several municipalities and cities in the Bicol region a day after the jampacked rally of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas in Pili, Camarines Sur.

In her dialogs and speeches before local officials and residents, Binay called for stronger ties among local government and outlined her key legislative initiatives to strengthen local governance and promote community welfare.

In Pili, Camarines Sur, the Mayor was warmly welcomed by local officials and employees, led by Mayor Tomas Bongalonta Jr. and Councilor Annalyn Bongalonta. The visit highlighted the enduring sisterhood between Makati and Pili, showcasing the strong collaboration between the two LGUs.

Councilor Annalyn thanked Mayor Binay for Makati’s support to Pili during disasters, particularly when the city provided ₱1 million each for Typhoon Enteng and Typhoon Kristine.

“When Makati provides aid to those affected by calamities, it is given freely—without the need for formal requests,” Binay said.

During a meeting in Tigaon, Camarines Sur, attended by officials from the 4th District led by Congressman Arnie Fuentebella, Binay underscored the importance of providing salaries for barangay officials.

The mayors also expressed their gratitude for Makati City’s financial aid during Typhoon Kristine.

“It is our duty to help other LGUs, especially those that struggle to get aid from the national government. We understand how difficult it is,” she said.

In Iriga City, Binay graced the Women’s Summit held in celebration of International Women’s Month. The event, led by Mayor Wilfredo Rex Oliva, Vice Mayor Edsel Dimaiwat, and Congressman Migz Villafuerte, gathered representatives from various women’s organizations and city officials.

“As a woman leader, I know the importance of having strong female voices in policymaking. We need more women in the Senate who will fight for our rights, opportunities, and empowerment,” she said.

In Legazpi, Albay, the mayor addressed the crowd in a Public Consultation of the Legazpi Port District, alongside Mayor Alfredo “Pido” Garbin Jr. and Congressman Joey Salceda. She reiterated the importance of providing free medicines for senior citizens and ensuring regular salaries and benefits for barangay officials.
