METRO Manila mayors have agreed to place the entire National Capital Region (NCR) under curfew from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., to coincide with the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on August 6.

This was announced by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos on Monday following a consultation meeting with the majority of metro mayors.

“Napagbotohan po ito at unanimous sila. Starting August 6, magiging 8 o’clock p.m. up to 4 a.m. ang curfew,” Abalos said in an interview over the radio.

The MMDA chairman added that they will no longer ask for the consent of Inter-Agency Task Forct (IATF) since the reimposition of longer curfew hours was aimed to control the further transmission of the contagious Delta variant.

Abalos said the prohibition of sale, delivery and consumption of alcoholic drinks or liquor ban in Metro Manila will be based on the ordinance passed by the city or municipal council.

“May mga lungsod kasi na noon pa nagpapatupad ng liquor ban habang may ilan naman na ni-lift na rin ang ordinansa,” Abalos said.
