CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Eight police officers on Wednesday were arrested for robbery-extortion while two Chinese nationals and a Filipino servant were rescued in Pampanga.

Operatives of the Angeles City Police together with Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) City Field Unit (CFU) Angeles and RFU3 personnel led by Major Jonathan Mostoles identified the suspects as Maj. Ferdinand Mendoza; SSgs Mark Anthony Reyes Iral and Sanny Ric Alicante; Cpls. Richmond Francia, John Gervic Fajardo, Kenneth Rheiner Ferrer Delfin; Pat. Leandro Veloso Mangale and Pat . Hermogines A Rosario Jr. They are all members of the PNP CIDG assigned at Anti-Organized Crime Unit (AOCU).

Mostoles said they responded to a reported robbery at #11-16 Missael St., Diamond Subd., in Bgy. Balibago, Angeles City, by a group of armed men in civilian clothes who allegedly identified themselves as CIDG personnel.

Upon arrival in the area, the responding lawmen intercepted three men armed with short firearms coming out of the front gate of the residential compound while the other suspects were arrested inside the house, where two Chinese nationals and a Filipino servant were rescued.

During the investigation, police found out the suspects held seven male Chinese nationals and a Filipino house servant in the house, where responding cops found in the living room 12 computers that were set up similar to a POGO operation.

Upon questioning, the suspects said they are members of the PNP CIDG assigned at the AOCU.

The arrested team leader said they are conducting an entrapment operation of firearms in the house.

However, it was later found to be untrue. When their vehicles were checked, assorted belongings of the Chinese were found therein including cash amounting to more or less three hundred thousand pesos (P300, 000.00) and US dollar dills, a cal. 45 pistol was also recovered in the Starex van service vehicle of the suspects.

All the suspects are now under the custody of the CIDG Angeles CFU while appropriate criminal and administrative cases are now being readied against them.

The arrest of the eight CIDG-AOCU personnel came just a week after Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Carlos reiterated to his field commanders nationwide the need for them to fully supervise the conduct of their internal discipline program aimed at ferreting out misfits and scalawags in uniform.

At the same time, the top cop emphasized their ‘One-Strike Policy’ which means that the immediate supervisor of any police personnel reported and arrested for involvement in criminal and other illegal activities including gambling will be immediately relieved and undergo an administrative investigation.
