DUE to continuous heavy rains and winds, a number of affected families were assisted through emergency cash transfers (ECT).

A total of 6,641 families in Ilocos Norte were provided with emergency cash transfers by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on August 3.

The DSWD clarified that this is only the first tranche of their distribution of assistance in the region. They added that the recipients of the aid and beneficiaries of the program are families who lost their homes due to typhoon Egay.

In addition to the ECT program, the DSWD will also implement a cash-for-work (CFW) program in the region, which will last for 45 days.

The agency stated that providing assistance to families to help them recover from the effects of the typhoon is part of their program.
