A TOTAL of 63 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released recently from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

Of the number, eight were released from the Maximum Security Compound (MaxSeCom), 42 from the Medium Security Compound (MedSeCom), and 13 from Minimum Security Compound (MinSeCom).

The newly-released PDLS were given their release orders, grooming kits, gratuity in a form of cash, transportation money, and medical certificates for their antigen testing.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), through the office of the External Affairs Section (EAS), NBP, facilitated the Culminating Program of the released PDLs with the theme, “Sa Pagsikat ng Araw, Bagong Bukas ay Naghihintay” on August 5, 2022 at the Social Hall, National Headquarters, Muntinlupa City.

BuCor is an attached agency of the Department of Justice. Under the law, the DOJ has administrative supervision over BuCor.

The BuCor prison facilities are: the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City, Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Oriental Mindoro, New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa; the Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, and Leyte Regional Prison in Southern Leyte.
