6 vintage bombs unearthed in Ecija
LLANERA, Nueva Ecija — Five vintage bombs on Saturday were accidentally discovered by a junkshop owner in this town.
Police Captain Franklin D. Sindac, Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Information chief, said the police got wind of the report after the 55-year-old junkshop owner from Bgy. Inanama asked for police assistance at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The owner said one of his sellers came to sell junk materials and after sorting it out, the five unexploded projectiles were discovered.
Meanwhile, the Guimba police under Lt. Col. Reynold Macabitas also reported that an unexploded hand grenade was unearthed while construction men were digging in the backyard of a house under construction in Purok 5, Bgy. San Roque also on Saturday.
Police said the recovered vintage bombs were turned over to the Nueva Ecija Provincial Explosives and Canine Unit for proper disposition.
