6 men held for playing ‘pusoy’ at funeral wake
CUYAPO, Nueva Ecija — Six men engaged in playing the illegal card game “pusoy” were nabbed following a lightning raid during the wee hours of Friday morning at a funeral wake which also resulted in the seizure of less than P5,000 in bet money.
Municipal police head Lt. Col. Erwin Ferry said the operation was conducted in Bgy. Piglisan at 1:45 a.m. where undercover cops seized some P4,836 in bet money and a deck of playing cards.
Those arrested were identified as Nestor Ocasion, 46, and Darwin Guzman, 48, both of Bgy. Piglisan; Felipe Villeros, 64, of Purok 6, Bgy. Burgos; Roberto Nono, 50, of Purok 5, Bgy. Loob; Vicente Ballesteros, 52, of Bgy. Bulala and Gaudencio Fernando, 28, of Bgy. San Jose, all of this town.
Ferry said the six suspects were caught red-handed while playing “winner-take-all-Pusoy” at the area where a funeral wake was being held.
Charges for illegal gambling were filed against the arrested suspects.
