CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Six former Militiang Bayan members on Tuesday surrendered to authorities in Aurora.

According to Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the surrenderees, joined the group of Regional Sentro Gravidad of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley (KR-CV) operating in the province of Isabela.

They also turned in two hand grenades, an improvised 12-gauge shotgun, a one-meter detonating cord, a blasting cap, three 12-gauge bullets, one M14 magazine, ten 7.62mm bullets, a flag of the CPP-NPA (Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army), several subversive books and documents.

The rebel returnees are provided with financial assistance and assorted goods as they reintegrate into their communities.

“The government will always welcome members of CTG (communist terrorist group) with open arms, and we will give our best efforts to assist them as they reunite with their families. I call on our fellow Filipinos who are still active members of leftist groups to return to the government side and help us build better and safer communities for everyone,” Hidalgo said.
