SOME 573 hopefuls took the foreign service officer (FSO) examinations administered by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) last Sunday.

According to CSC chairperson Karlo Nograles, it was a successful conduct of exams where the number of takers represents a high 89.39 % of the 641 registered examinees in 13 regions (National Capital Region, Regions 1-11 and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Nograles personally inspected the test process along with Commissioner Ryan Alvin Acosta at the UST Angelicum College in Quezon City—the testing center for NCR, where 63% or 360 out of the total examinees took the test.

“Isa na namang successful na Career Service Examination ang naihatid ng Civil Service Commission nitong Linggo. Ito ay para naman sa mga Foreign Service Officer hopefuls. Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng examinees sa kanilang cooperation sa exam protocols upang maging maayos ang buong exam procedure. Gusto rin naming magpasalamat sa mga partner schools namin,” he said.

The CSE-FSO serves both as a qualifying test and an eligibility examination. As a qualifying test, it is only one of the five-part Foreign Service Officer Examination (FSOE).

Passers of the CSE-FSO shall proceed to the succeeding parts of the FSOE—Preliminary Interview, Written Test, Psychological Test, and Oral Test—all administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The FSOE is being done to recruit candidates for the Foreign Service Officer, Class IV position.

As an eligibility examination, passers of the CSE-FSO shall be conferred the Career FSO Eligibility.
