
53 drug targets hauled to jail, P2.9-M illegal drugs seized
NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin on Wednesday announced the arrest of 53 of their top drug targets in Metro Manila following a series of anti-narcotics operations that netted nearly P2.9 million worth of shabu.
The official said that from Monday to Tuesday operations, different NCRPO districts conducted a total of 34 anti-drug operations that led to the confiscation of 425.48 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ amid their continuing drive to create a much safer and drug-free Metro Manila.
The Northern Police District under Colonel Josefino D. Ligan confiscated P445,400 worth of shabu while the Eastern Police District headed by Col. Villamor Q. Tuliao recovered P547,400 worth of prohibited substances.
The Manila Police District under Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay confiscated P288,840 worth of shabu, the Southern Police District under Brig. Gen. Manuel J. Abrugena seized nearly P1.07 million worth of shabu and the Quezon City Police District under Col. Melecio M. Buslig Jr. hauled nearly P508,000 worth of shabu.
Brig. Gen, Aberin lauded the five NCRPO districts for their successful anti-drug operations which he likewise credited to the support of the community.
“Our success in these anti-drug operations is a result of strong police-community collaboration. The active participation of concerned citizens in providing crucial information strengthens our fight against illegal drugs,” he said.
