NAVOTAS CITY — In a significant move to bolster the backbone of the Navotas economy, the office of Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog Partylist, led by Representative Yedda Romualdez, have extended their hands in generosity to the local fisherfolk community. The initiative, personally funded by Tingog and Speaker Romualdez, is part of a broader effort to empower and uplift the lives of residents whose livelihoods are deeply entwined with the fishing industry. In addition to the boats, another 1,000 fisherfolk were recipients of a generous cash aid amounting to PHP 5,000 each under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.

The event was graced by notable figures including Congressman Tobias “Toby” Reynald M. Tiangco, Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” M. Tiangco, Vice-Mayor Tito M. Sanchez, city councilors, and Barangay captains from various barangays.

In her speech, Congresswoman Yedda Romualdez expressed her gratitude towards the partnership with local officials and recognized the hard work and dedication of Navotas fishermen. The attendees also enjoyed food packs and had the chance to win various raffle prizes including electric fans, rice cookers, gas stoves, oven toasters, televisions, refrigerators, and even a grand prize consisting of a motorcycle and a tuktuk.

“Sa ating mga minamahal na mangingisda, kayo po ang tunay na yaman ng Navotas. Sa inyong patuloy na pagsusumikap sa araw-araw, asahan niyo na laging nakaagapay ang Tingog Partylist,” said Congresswoman Yedda Romualdez in her address to the fisherfolk.

This event is a testament to Tingog Partylist’s commitment to not only recognize but also actively support the industrious spirit of Navotas’ fishing community. With these efforts, they hope to drive the local economy and further enrich the lives of its residents.
