FIVE wanted cyberlaw offenders were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group in separate manhunt operations this week, PNP-ACG director Brigadier General Joel B. Doria said yesterday.

“Once again, the PNP-ACG warns everyone not to believe every post they see online or on social media because not all of them are true and legit,” the official said.

Brig. Gen. Doria said that two of the suspects identified as Julierey Palencia,34; and Oliver San Diego,41, were arrested on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 issued by Judge Reymundo Aumentado of the Cauayan City Regional Trial Court Branch 20 last Sunday.

He said that the two were accused of allegedly accessing without authority the online banking account of the complainant identified only as ‘Christine’ causing her to lose P370,000.

Listed as the no. 1 and no. 2 most wanted persons by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 2 in Cagayan Valley, the two were arrested in separate operations in Calumpit, Bulacan last Monday.

The 3rd suspect identified as Rexner Rubio, the subject of six warrants of arrest for cyber-libel issued by Judge Josephine Caranzo of the Calapan Cit RTC Branch 39 was arrested by RACU 4-A operatives led by Captain Christian Luzon along Albany Street in Cubao, Quezon City on Wednesday last week.

The suspect is also the subject of another warrant of arrest for two counts of violation of RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act issued by Judge Ma. Celestina Mangrobang of the Manila RTC Branch 38, Brig. Gen. Doria said.

Two other suspects identified as Leny Sierda,37; and Michael Bondoc,25, were also arrested by RACU Cordillera officers in separate operations this week. Both were arrested on the strength of a warrant for swindling/estafa in relation to RA 10175 issued by Judge Rufus Malecdan of the Baguio City RTC Branch 60.

Sierda was tracked down in San Pedro City in Laguna last Monday while Bondoc was arrested in Punta Verde in Angeles City, Pampanga the following day, said RACU Cordillera chief, Col. Ma. Theresa Guinto-Pucay.

The two were accused of gypping a 23-year old man thru a fraudulent online transaction. It turned out that the victim was searching a social media site for a condominium to lease when he was offered by one ‘Brenda Maxwell’ a unit in Taguig City.
