4 youths held in pot session inside Talavera cemetery
TALAVERA,, Nueva Ecija. – Four youths whose ages range from 17 years to 21 were arrested after being caught smoking marijuana inside a public cemetery in this municipality past midnight on Wednesday.
Town police head Lt. Col. Manny Israel said the suspects were arrested while having a pot session inside the cemetery in Bgy. Poblacion Sur at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday.
He said barangay officials apprehended the four and immediately turned them over to the police station.
Seized during the operation were two plastic sachets containing marijuana weighing one gram and worth P1,200, a glass tube and disposable lighter.
The arrested suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Cabanatuan City.
“We are alarmed that some minors are still involved in drug activities. We will ensure their incarceration, regardless of their age, as part of our commitment to completely eradicate this menace and secure the future of our youth,” said Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Ferdinand D. Germino.
He stressed the successful operation was in line with the directives of Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Redrico A. Maranan to intensify anti-illegal drug operations in Central Luzon.
