4 public hospitals in Cavite hit full capacity due to COVID surge
FOUR public hospitals in the province of Cavite reached their full capacity due to rising cases of people infected by the dreaded coronavirus disease-19.
Hospital officials of the Ospital ng Dasmarinas (OnD) in Dasmarinas City, and General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires City yesterday made the announcement on their official social media page.
Also loaded with COVID patients are the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Bacoor City and the Ospital ng Imus in Bgy. Malagasang, Imus City, Cavite.
The Dasmarinas local government unit said the LGU-run OnD is already experiencing an overflow of patients with severe cases of COVID-19.
Many staff members are also under quarantine due to exposure to COVID patients.
The OnD administration decided not to accept more patients.
“Thank you for understanding. We are at full capacity and understaffed , most of our doctors and nurses have been hit positively and some are in quarantine. This is temporary just until we have recovered, We have disinfected the hospital and have recharged for quality service again,.” OnD hospital director Dr. Malu Caguingin-Campos said.
The local government tapped the use of seven motels as isolation facilities for COVID patients.
Provincial health officer Dr. Nonie John Dalisay said the emergency room and intensive care unit, TB Department and the NewBorn Screening Department of the General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires City are closed temporarily after its hospital staff members caught COVID.
“Kaya po pilay ang hospital in a week, matatapos na ang quarantine nila in a week and mababalik na ang rotation ng duties, and hopefully makabalik na ang admission,” the doctor said.
The entire province’s occupancy rate of the public hospitals’ Covid wards hit 79.1 percent, with 63.3 percent of patients in isolation facilities, 92.7 percent on ICU. and 79 percent using mechanical ventilators.
As of September 7, Cavite has a total of 90,369 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 2,114 new and 17,768 active cases; 70,445 recoveries, and 2,156 deaths.
