4 NPA rebs yield in Bicol

POLICE Regional Office 5 director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo on Sunday announced the surrender of four New People’s Army members in Bicol following negotiations with local police authorities in Sorsogon.

In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Dionardo B. Carlos, the Bicol police director identified the four as Elvis Hebres,43; John Dominic Oraye, 30; Oliver Halamanin,36; and Enrique Biñas, 48, all residents of Casiguran, Sorsogon.

Hebres was tagged as an NPA political instructor while Oraye was reported to be an NPA tax collector and recruiter. On the other hand, Halamanin and Biñas were said to be rebel couriers.

Brig. Gen. Estomo said that the four yielded to officers of the Casiguran Municipal Police Station and the 92nd Special Action Company of the PNP Special Action Force following a series of talks.

The four also turned over a home-made caliber .38 revolver with six live ammunition to the local police.

All four are now under the custody of the 9th Special Action Battalion of the PNP-SAF.
