4 HVT yield over P9-M shabu in QC sting
A STRING of anti-narcotics operations in the country this week led to the arrest of four ‘high-value targets’ and the seizure of over P9 million worth of shabu and the high-grade marijuana derivative called ‘Kush,’ Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group director, Brigadier General Eleazar P. Matta said yesterday.
In a report to PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the official said that two of the suspects: one male and a female who are both only 18 years old were arrested for their involvement in the large-scale distribution of shabu in Quezon City and other parts of Metro Manila.
The two with the aliases ‘Potyok’ and ‘Nell’ were arrested by undercover officers from the PDEG Special Operations Unit-National Capital Region in Ibong Pilak, Kanan, Novaliches, Q.C. at around 12:45 a.m. Friday.
Recovered from their possession were one plastic bag containing approximately a kilo of shabu valued at P6.8 million and the buy-bust money. The two are now being held at the PDEG office in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City.
The 3rd suspect, a 24-year-old male resident of Pageda, Talitay, Maguindanao was arrested after he sold drugs to a poseur at the food court of Robinsons’ Place Manila at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Operatives of the PDEG SOU-NCR confiscated four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 200 grams of shabu worth P1.360 million from the suspect.
The 4th identified as alias ‘Jig,’ 42, of Barangay Tigtabon in Zamboanga City, was arrested in a sting conducted by PDEG SOU 9 agents with the support of the Zamboanga City Police Office, the Police Regional Office 9 and the Philippine Air Force in Arena Blanco area past 1 a.m. Friday.
The suspect yielded three heat-sealed plastic packets containing 150 grams of shabu valued at P1.020 million. He was confined at the Zamboanga City Police Station 6 jail.
All the recovered pieces of drug evidence were placed under the safekeeping of the PNP Forensic Group.
Brig. Gen. Matta also announced the recovery of an estimated P10 million worth of Kush in a warehouse in Parañaque City shortly before noon Thursday.
He said that members of the Ninoy Aquino Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group found the parcel sent by an alleged tea company based in Ohio, USA inside the Cargohaus facility in Liwanag, Parañaque City.
When inspected, the parcel addressed to a local resident turned out to have aluminum foil packs labeled as ‘Jasmine Pearls Green Tea’ and ‘Herbal Teas’ which contained a total of 7,154 grams of Kush worth P10.015 million.
The drugs were placed under the custody of the PDEA headed by Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo who has ordered a thorough investigation into the foiled drug smuggling attempt.
