SCIENCE CITY OF MUŇOZ – Four employees of an E-Sabong off-cockpit betting station here were nabbed after they were accused of stealing the firm’s daily bet collection totaling P6.45 million, police here reported.
The missing money was discovered after the two owners of NE02 Joms Cockpit Viewing Station based at the Aqualandia Restobar in Bgy. Poblacion East which is under the franchise of Pitmasters Live conducted an inventory based on the daily summary reports submitted by the suspects, Lt. Col. Marlon Cudal, city police head, said.
Nabbed were the firm’s employees identified as Maritoni Velasquez, 18, teller, of Bgy. Abar 1st, San Jose City; Cristine Lei Andrada, 23, supervisor; Ryan Franco, 38, waiter at Aqualandia Restobar, of Angeles City, Pampanga; and Vincent Bagsit, 20, teller, of Bgy. Abar 1st, San Jose City.
Cudal said the two owner-victims of the betting station identified as Jason Miranda, 27, of Bgy. Bantug and Warfredo Balmeo, 55, of Bgy. Poblacion East, complained that the suspects failed to remit the missing money after they were allegedly found to be also engaged in online betting.
He said the victims conducted an audit inventory only to find out that the cash on hand was short of the total amount of P6,453,293.
Charges for qualified theft are being prepared for filing against the arrested suspects.
