4 charcoal makers killed, 1 wounded in Ecija gun attack

PEŇARANDA, Nueva Ecija – Four men on Monday night were killed while another was wounded in a gun attack near a poultry farm in this town.

Slain were Melvin Gonzales, 27; Jay-ar Quizon, 37; Reynaldo Quizon, 38, all of Sitio Minalungao, Bgy. Pias; and Joseph Valdivicio, 38, of Sitio Sibug, Bgy. Rio Chico; while the wounded was Jessie Baldivicio, 31, of Sitio Sibug, Bgy. Rio Chico, all of General Tinio municipality.

All five were charcoal markers.

Town police head Maj. Roderick N. Corpuz said the shooting transpired near the E and C Poultry Farm in Bgy. Callos at 8:45 p.m. on Monday.

Investigators responded and found four victims dead with one wounded.

The wounded victim was rushed to the Dr. PJGMRMC in Cabanatuan City for emergency treatment.

Corpuz said they are still investigating the motive for the killings as follow-up operations are still ongoing for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
