THE full implementation of 3rd strike policy against insufficient balance on the RFID card starting May 15, 2021 is on the right schedule, said official of the agency.

“That’s the reason why we have ordered the toll operators to conduct a comprehensive information campaign — to properly notify motorists that they should be responsible RFID subscribers and not to inconvenience the majority of complaints and responsible motorists whose travel is impeded by irresponsible RFID subscribers, said Julius Corpus,Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) spokesperson.

Besides, they are still afforded two warnings before they are apprehended on the third time, added Corpus.

“We believe that is more than enough to remind them to always ensure they have sufficient load before entering RFID lanes. If they don’t have sufficient load, they can pass thru the cash lanes which are provided and they will not be accosted,” said Corpus. “I assume that is a very fair arrangement for the motorists.”

Earlier, the commuter and transport groups appealed to the TRB to defer the implementation of the policy due to the pandemic.
