380 distressed OFWs in Jeddah repatriated

A TOTAL of 380 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia have been repatriated in time for the Christmas celebration on December 25.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG) organized the repatriation flight for distressed overseas Filipinos in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia.

The repatriation was conducted through the support of the DFA-Office of the Undersecretary of Migrant Workers Affairs (DFA-OUMWA) under the leadership of Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Jeddah (POLO-Jeddah) and volunteers from the Filipino community also extended their assistance on the day of the flight.

Those repatriated included 11 OFWs with special medical cases, nine of whom were pregnant mothers and 63 minor dependents, about half of them infants.

They boarded a chartered Philippine Airlines (PAL) non-stop flight from Jeddah to Manila.
