Churches in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces or the NCR Plus, and other areas in the country under the general community quarantine (GCQ) are now allowed to open up to 30 percent of their capacity.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, an official of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), revealed this on Friday.

“At its regular meeting yesterday (Thursday) the IATF, with the full support of the Metro Manila mayors, granted the request of the churches to allow religious gatherings up to 30% of venue capacity in the NCR+ and other areas under the heightened GCQ until 31 May 2021,” Guevarra said in a message.

Metro Manila and four adjacent provinces – Cavite, Rizal, Laguna and Bulacan – have shifted to a “stricter” version of GCQ that started May 15.

Also, other areas in the country have been placed under GCQ.

Still, certain areas in the country, namely Santiago City, Quirino, Ifugao and Zamboanga City, will be under modified enhanced community quarantine due to the rate of transmissions and state of healthcare system in those areas.
