3 nabbed for selling fake swab test results

CUBAO Police Station (PS 7) operatives arrested three alleged sellers of fake swab test results in Brgy. E. Rodriguez, Cubao, Quezon City.

PLt. Col. Elizabeth Jasmin, PS 7 commander, identified the arrested suspects as Bonifacio Bautista Jr., 50,resident of Cambridge, Brgy. E. Rodriguez, Cubao, Quezon City; Guilma Cadilo, 45, resident of NTE Village, Brgy. San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal; and Alberto Bautista, 22, of Brgy. Quianan, San Juaquin, Iloilo.

A report showed that on October 18, 2021, the complainants identified as Junalie Sambayan and Julius Anfone booked online with Jumel Booking for Iloilo trip.

The victims were fetched by Alberto Bautista and they proceeded to 3 Cambridge St., Brgy. E. Rodriguez, Cubao, at 9 a.m. last October 19.

Cadilo allegedly asked P16,000 from the victims for the processing of documents needed for their trip.

Bautista Jr. gave the victims their COVID-19 RT-PCR test report and certificate on Oct. 20.

However, the victims were told that their papers were fake when they arrived at the airport.

The Philippine Red Cross confirmed the swab test results were fake.

The suspects are facing charges for estafa thru falsification of documents.

PBGen. Antonio C. Yarra, QCPD Director commended PS 7 for their swift action that led to the arrest of the suspects. “Hindi namin kinukunsinti ang mga ganitong gawain dahil bukod sa illegal ito ay napakadelikado at nakababahala lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya na ang prayoridad ng ating gobyerno ay ang ating kalusugan. Asahan ninyona ang gumagawa ng ganitong masamang gawain ay ating susupilin at siguraduhin namin na mananagot sila sa batas,” he added.
