Oil tanker plows into trikes in Bataan, 3 killed, 6 hurt

THREE people were killed while six others were injured when a mini oil tanker plowed into two tricycles and some bystanders in Mariveles, Bataan.

The Mariveles Police Station identified the fatalities as Rene Lansangan, 56; Retchen Rama, Atencio, 31; both passengers of the struck tricycle; and Eduardo Santos, 42, driver of another tricycle.

Lansangan and Santos died on the spot while Atencio died while being treated at the Maheseco Hospital.

The injured were oil tanker driver Joel Bonzato, 46, of Limay, Bataan; Divina Jallorian, 44, a vendor, Adrianne Jallorina, 6; Ariel Belano, 32, tricycle driver Cesar Villanueva; and a village resident whose name is being verified.

They were brought to different hospitals for treatment.

The incident happened in Bgy. Baseco, Mariveles at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

An investigation showed the oil tanker was on its way to a gasoline station in the town to deliver petroleum products when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while on the descending part of the road.

Witnesses said the oil tanker was traveling at a fast speed when it hit the tricycles and the bystanders.

Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide were filed against the oil tanker driver.
