3 ex-rebels in CL surrender
CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — In a significant development in the government’s anti-insurgency efforts, three former members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) on Friday surrendered to authorities on Friday in separate occasions in Central Luzon.
A 52-year-old former member of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) Tar-Zam, Platun 1 Sentro de Grabidad (SDG), and Guerrilla Front Narciso of Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA) 4A identified as alias “Kajo” withdrew her support from the group and submitted herself, along with one homemade shotgun, to police authorities in Tarlac.
The surrender was facilitated through the joint efforts of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Tarlac City Police Station (CPS), San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS), Mayantoc MPS, Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) Tarlac and other concerned units.
Meanwhile, in Aurora province, another former CTG member, an ex-Militiang Bayan operative in Maria Aurora, surrendered to the Aurora Police Provincial Office, through the efforts of the 1st Aurora PMFC, with the support of the PIU and Maria Aurora MPS.
Alias “Ka Warren,” a former commanding officer under the KLG West Lino Blas Command/South Party Committee (SPC) operating in Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Zambales, surrendered to authorities in Bataan.
His surrender was facilitated by a combined team from the 2nd and 1st PMFC, PIU Bataan PPO, Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 3, Bataan Provincial Intelligence Team (PIT), and other concerned units.
“Ka Warren” also turned in an M653 rifle, various magazines and ammunition, an M73 hand grenade, a command-detonated explosive (CDX), and other materiels.
“These successive surrenders highlight the effectiveness of the government’s whole-of-nation approach in ending the local communist armed conflict, as emphasized by Executive Order No. 70,” PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said.
