3 Ecija farmers playing high-stakes ‘tong-its’ held
GUIMBA, NUeva Ecija – Three farmers engaged in high-stakes illegal gambling activity were rounded up during a sting operation conducted here on Friday afternoon.
Newly-installed police officer-in-charge Lt. Col. Norman C. Cacho identified those nabbed as Feliciano Rebultan Jr., 59; Melencio Oliva, 60; and Joel Galicia, 64, all of Bgy. Maturanoc, this town.
They were caught in the act while playing the illegal card game called tong-it’s at 4 p.m. here.
Seized during the anti-illegal gambling raid were bet money amounting to P18,450 and a set of playing cards.
Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling) are being readied for filing against them before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
