MORE than P.1 million worth of shabu was seized from three drug personalities who were on the drug watch list of barangay and police during a buy-bust operation Saturday before dawn in Malabon City.

Malabon Police chief P/Col. Amante Daro said the arrested suspects conspired in selling a plastic sachet containing shabu worth P500 to Patrolman Jade Nemis of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) who acted as poseur-buyer at around 2:10 a.m. along M.H. Del Pilar St. corner Panghulo Road, Barangay Panghulo.

When operatives of SDEU led by P/Capt. Alexander Dela Cruz received the pre-arranged signal signifying that the transaction had been consummated; they immediately pounced on the suspects before they were able to escape.

The lawmen subjected the arrested suspects to a body search resulting in the confiscation of five plastic sachets containing more or less 16 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of P108,800 and the P500 marked money.

The markings and inventory of the seized illegal drugs were witnessed by Barangay Councilman Zion Aguilar and veteran tabloid reporter Ismael “Ka Maeng” Santos before it was turned over to the Northern Police District (NPD) Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.

Daro said the suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office on charges of selling, possession, and conspiracy under Article II of RA (Republic Act) 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
