3 drown in Laguna before Halloween

THREE persons were found lifeless in alleged drowning incidents on the eve of All Saints’ Day in Calamba City near Laguna de Bay, Los Baños river, and Pangil river – all in Laguna province.

In a report submitted by Calamba Police, an unidentified naked victim was found lifeless, more or less 40-50 years old, approximately 4 feet to 5 ft. in height which had been floating off Laguna de Bay along Bayat Purok 5 Almond St. (Tabing Dagat) Barangay Looc in this City.

The corpse was pulled out by responding members of BPSO (Barangay Public Safety Officers).

A witness said while he was on board his “lunday” boat, he saw the victim with a tattoo on his right arm and immediately informed barangay officials.

The second victim was found at around 11:45 a.m., Oct. 31, 2022, at Pangil River.

Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Pangil Rescue Team rushed the victim to General Cailles Memorial District Hospital in Pakil, where he was declared “dead on arrival” by the attending physician.

In Los Baños, a 78-year-old woman allegedly suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, of Bgy. Maahas was reported missing the early morning of Oct. 31, at Mulawin River, Sitio, Ibaba, Bgy. Maahas, Los Baños, Laguna.

The victims’ relatives searched and received information from a fisherman that a floating cadaver was in the river.

The relatives proceeded to the said place and positively identified the victim.

The victim was approximately 50 meters away from the river, and authorities saw no signs of foul play during the initial investigation.
