PETROGAZZ will have three players from its successful 2019 Reinforced Conference championship run back on its fold for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League season.

Through their social media accounts yesterday, the Angels announced that Jonah Sabete, Djanel Cheng and libero Cienne Cruz are coming back to the squad for the Open Conference which is plotting for a February 16 opening.

“Reunited back and ready to work it out for our refueled roster,” said the club’s message.

“Welcome back, Angels! Let’s do this!”

The trio will join captain Chie Saet, open spikers Myla Pablo and Grethcel Soltones, middle blockers Remy Palma and Seth Rodriguez, holdovers from the PetroGazz squad which bagged the bronze medal in the Open Conference last year.

After an impressive 2019 campaign, Cruz did not suit up for the Angels in the Ilocos Norte bubble as the 27-year old defensive specialist, along with her twin sister and team manager Camille had to serve a residency in the United States to get their green card.

Cienne was the 2018 PVL Open Conference Best Libero.

Both vital cogs in PetroGazz’s Reinforced Conference title run in 2019, Sabete and Cheng signed with Sta. Lucia last year. The Lady Realtors, who placed fifth last season, have decided to file a leave of absence in the league.

The Angels lost key players in Open Conference Best Middle Blocker Ria Meneses, Best Libero Kath Arado and veteran open hitter Ces Molina, whose contracts expired last Dec. 31.

Opposite spikers Jerrili Malabanan and Mean Mendrez, middle hitter Jessey de Leon, setters Ivy Perez and Alina Bicar, and back-up libero Rica Enclona were also released by the squad.

Meneses, Molina and Malabanan have already acquired by Cignal HD last week.

PetroGazz is also set to announce several more signings within the week.
