2nd batch of Pinoy quake victims repatriated from Turkey

THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Office of the Undersecretary of Migrant Workers’ Affairs (OUMWA) and the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, repatriated the second batch of 24 overseas Filipinos affected by the recent earthquake in Türkiye.

DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Eduardo José A. de Vega and Deputy Assistant Secretary Bernadette Mendoza escorted the latest batch during their travel back to the country on 08 March 2023.

The repatriated Filipinos expressed their great joy in surviving the ravages of the earthquake and for the safety of their whole family.

They were likewise very grateful to the Philippine Embassy in Ankara as well as the DFA and the Philippine Government for the very rapid help and support extended to them after the calamity.

The Philippine Embassy in Ankara continues to provide housing, food and necessities, as well as arranging for the repatriation of Filipinos from Türkiye.

For Filipinos wishing to stay in Türkiye, the Embassy extends its assistance by liaising with the Turkish Government and various NGOs for aid in rebuilding their homes and livelihood.

The Embassy and the DFA remain ready, willing, and able to assist Filipinos who were affected by the earthquake.
