AN additional 20,542 patients have beaten the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), pushing the country’s overall recovery count to 2,052,867 as of Tuesday.

The Department of Health (DOH), in its latest Covid-19 bulletin, said recoveries account for 90.6 percent of the total of 2,266,066 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

Another 18,056 new cases and 222 new deaths were also reported. These figures bring the overall tally of active cases to 177,670 as compared to Monday’s 180,293 cases.

The death toll has reached 35,529.

The latest figures showed 85.8 percent of the active cases are mild, 9.5 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, 2.66 percent are moderate, and 0.6 percent are in critical condition.

“There were 92 duplicates removed from the total case count as 54 of these are recoveries. Moreover, 92 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it said.

DOH data on Sept. 14, likewise, showed that 29.7 percent of 50,425 who were tested turned out positive for COVID-19.

All laboratories were operational on Sept. 12 and 12 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 12 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.7 percent of samples tested and 1.7 percent of positive individuals.

To date, 77 percent of 4,200 intensive care unit beds, 69 percent of 20,800 isolation beds, 74 percent of 16,000 ward beds, and 57 percent of 3,200 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use nationwide.

Meanwhile, 79 percent of 1,400 intensive care unit beds, 65 percent of 4,500 isolation beds, 74 percent of 4,500 ward beds, and 62 percent of 1,200 ventilators reserved for patients with Covid-19 are being used in the National Capital Region. PNA
