2 vendors nabbed for fake cigars in Ecija
GENERAL NATIVIDAD, Nueva Ecija — Two vendors were apprehended after they were caught in possession of several reams of alleged counterfeit cigarettes during checkpoint operations in this town on Monday.
Nabbed were Adrian Joseph, 24, and Robert Garcia, 24, both single, of Bgy. San Pascual, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.
Police head Captain Shariel C. Paulino said they were conducting Oplan Sita when they accosted the two tricycle-riding suspects in Bgy. Belen at 10:25 a.m. here.
Seized from them were 16 reams of Two Moon Lights and 14 reams of Two Moon Menthol cigarettes worth about P8,100.
Paulino said the suspects were immediately arrested when they failed to present the required documents pertinent to their cargo.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines are set to be filed against the arrested suspects.
