
2 vendors held for P55k fake cigarettes in Talavera
TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – Two vendors on Tuesdayb were arrested after they were caught in the act while unloading alleged fake cigarettes worth P55,000 from a van during a patrol operation in this town.
Police head Lt. Col. Marlon M. Cudal said arrested were vendors aged 38, and 29, of Bgy. Maestrang Kikay and Matias.
The duo were spotted by authorities during patrol operations conducted in Bgy. Matias at 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
The suspects were caught in the act while unloading from a white Nissan Urvan (JJ779A) some four boxes of fake brands of Cannon Menthol cigarettes worth P55,000.
According to Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Ferdinand D. Germino, the suspects are now locked up in detention facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
