2 trikers held for transporting P40K counterfeit cigarettes
JAEN, Nueva Ecija – Two persons transporting alleged illegally-manufactured cigarettes worth about P40,000 were nabbed by authorities here on Tuesday night.
Police head Major Baltazar Corpuz said suspects Arjay Franco, 22, driver, and his companion, Marites Mesina, 44, both of Sitio KC1, Bgy. San Francisco, San Antonio were accosted along Manggahan Road, Bgy. Sapang at 6 p.m.
Members of the local police and counter-intel units of the Nueva Ecija police provincial office led by Major Gerald G. Fernandez caught the suspects transporting eight boxes of alleged counterfeit Two Moon cigarettes in a Honda Wave tricycle.
Case prober Senior MSgt. Rowen R. Martin said the suspects were immediately apprehended after failing to present the necessary documents for their cargo.
The arrested suspects are now under the custody of the NEPPO-intel office and are set to undergo inquest proceedings at the city prosecutor’s office here.
