AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group on Monday morning arrested two suspected online extortionists during an entrapment operation in Trece Martirez City in Cavite, PNP-ACG director, Brigadier General Robert T. Rodriguez said.
The official identified one of the suspects as Erwin Calara, a 28-year old resident of Block 158, Lot 27, Phase 5, Sunshineville, Cabuco, Trece Martirez City. The 2nd is a 17-year old male from Golden Horizon, also in the same city.
Rodriguez said the two were arrested in a sting conducted at the Calara residence in Sunshineville at 10:30 a.m. Monday by members of the Regional Anti-Crime Unit 4-A and the Trece Martirez City Police Station following a complaint from a 35-year old resident of Sapang Bulu, Angeles City in Pampanga.
The operation was supervised by RACU 3 chief, Colonel Nelvin M. Ricohermoso.
The suspects are facing charges for grave coercion and robbery-extortion in relation to Republic Act 10175 otherwise known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
