2 NPAs, ‘amazon’ surrender in Ecija

CABANATUAN CITY – An alleged New People’s Army (NPA) female “amazon” and two other suspected rebel personalities voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Nueva Ecija on Tuesday following the intensified implementation of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s Executive Order No. 70, institutionalizing the “whole of nation” approach in creating a National Task Force To End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

In Nampicuan, Col. Jess B. Mendez, provincial police commander identified the female rebel as alias “Ka Trixie”, 60, of Bgy. San Antonio, Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.

She brought a cal.22 with no bullets in giving herself up to the police and military at the police station in Bgy. North Poblacion at 10:30 a.m.

Mendez said Ka Trixie, who also manifested her withdrawal of support to the NPA, was a former rebel assigned under the NPA’s Arcadio Peralta command in 1998.

Meanwhile, San Jose City Police head Lt. Col. Palmyra Guardaya said another former rebel, alias “Ka Iking”, 33, of Zone 11B, Sitio Sampugo, Bgy. Kita-kita, joined the government’s fold and surrendered to them Tuesday night.

Ka Iking also surrendered his cal.38 revolver to the authorities. He was formerly assigned as Squad S4 under the rebel’s Josefino Corpuz Command from 2001 to 2004.

In Gapan City, Lt. Col. Renato Agustin, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company commander, said they helped facilitate the surrender of alias “Kaka”, 52, farmer, a native of Old Santa Lucia, San Miguel, Bulacan, and presently residing in Bgy. Bulac, Gapan City.

Kaka was a “Milisyang Bayan” member under the KLG Sierra Madre.

Mendez said the surrendered rebel personalities were subjected to custodial debriefing and proper documentation. By Steve A. Gosuico
