CAMP BGEN VICENTE P LIM – Two “notorious” robbery suspects involved in the series of robberies in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region and Metro Manila were arrested early morning on Monday in San Pablo City, Laguna.

PRO (Police Regional Office) Calabarzon Regional Director Police Brigadier General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the suspects were residents of Cainta and Angono in Rizal.

Nartatez Jr. praised the untiring efforts of the operatives of Tiaong, Famy, and San Pablo Police Stations after successfully arresting the two suspects.

“Well-coordinated police operations and fast relay of information resulted in their arrest. I have instructed our police to be extra vigilant and intensify intelligence gathering in dealing with these notorious individuals. As you can see, our streets are now ‘flooding’ with police presence, following our PNP chief’s instruction to increase our police visibility 24/7, especially during rush hours and critical times of the day,” said Nartatez Jr.

The suspects were arrested by the San Pablo City Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Intelligence agents inside a night bar in San Pablo City at early dawn following a report from a concerned citizen regarding the presence of the two armed suspects.

San Pablo Chief of Police P/Col. Joewie B. Lucas said authorities recovered from one suspect a violet backpack containing 27 various units of cellphone, three pieces of tablets, a pair of white Nike shoes, and a black sling Lacoste bag containing a grenade, a sachet of shabu, a caliber 9mm pistol marked Norinco, a magazine, three pieces of live ammunition for the same caliber, and money in different denominations amounting to P2,290.

The second suspect yielded a blue sling bag containing a grenade, a sachet of shabu, cash amounting to P8,400, and a caliber .38 revolver loaded with two pieces of live ammunition for the same caliber.

Police seized their blue Yamaha Sniper motorcycle matching the same description as the one reported in different robbery incidents as the suspects’ getaway vehicle.

The arrested suspects and the confiscated evidence were brought to San Pablo Police for proper disposition.

On August 29, 2022, at about 3:00 a.m. at Bgy. Batuhan, Famy, Laguna, a female victim, 40, self-employed, testified that the suspects entered her residence and declared a hold-up. The suspects carted away a Samsung cellphone, Huawei tablet, and a bag containing assorted IDs and fled toward Pangil, Laguna.

The duo was also the same suspects in a robbery in Sitio Bakahan, Bgy. Lalig, Tiaong, Quezon, and victimized two victims on Aug. 29, 2022, taking away two cellphones and P3,300 cash, and fled to San Pablo City.

The thorough investigation conducted by investigators of Famy and Tiaong Police Stations generated detailed descriptions of the suspects and the motorcycle that later led to the fast identification of the suspects.

The duo will be facing charges of violation of Republic Act 10591 Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, violation of Republic Act 8294 known as Amending Law for PD 1866 pertaining to firearms and ammunition, and Republic Act 9165 Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act against the perpetrators to be filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office in San Pablo City, Laguna. At the same time, Famy and Tiaong Police are now preparing the different complaints for robbery for filing to their respective provincial prosecutor’s Ooffice.

“I would like to congratulate our police for their fast action in resolving a series of criminal acts and to thank their victims for cooperating with our police. These series of events manifest that our communities trust their police; hence they do not hesitate to report crimes and give significant information. ‘Malasakit’ towards others coming from both the police and the community will surely bring us to greater heights in maintaining peace and order,” Nartatez said.
